VEDIC MEDITATION

the art of effortless stress release

Vedic Meditation is a simple, effortless technique using a mantra (which is a sound or vibration) that causes the mind to dive from the busy surface of the mind into deeper quieter states. This will allow stress and tension to release from the body in a very gentle way. A natural result of daily practise is to be able to access a state of inner quietness and stillness, which spills into our eyes open experience in everyday life and then watch yourself naturally feeling fulfilled, more focused, more energetic and a realisation you are spontaneously happy.

All of this requires no effort, force or will power. All you need to do is to get in a chair twice a day, close your eyes and practice this simple and effortless technique.

How is the practice different?

One of the first things you notice and one of the most important things we do is sleep or rest. 20 minutes of Vedic Mediation is equivalent to 3-4 hours of sleep, so practising 20 mins twice a day means you get 6-8 hours of rest and relaxation before going to bed.

Once our body has rested it starts to release the stress very gently that has been locked in our system for years. This gives us relief from anxiety, fatigue, body pain, stiffness and depression or emotional fatigue.

The next thing to kick in is our digestion, it starts to fire up again and this is where we see increased immunity, reduced skin irritations or conditions, greater energy. We then start a cycle of more clarity, we eat better, sleep better which results in a sense of wellbeing.

STRESS & SLEEP

Psychologic stress refers to the rate of wear and tear in the organism. The biologic definition of stress refers to the non-specific response to any demand to increase the chances of the successful handling of a threatening situation.

Our brain cannot know what is life threatening or just a stressful situation. So the same chemicals are released regardless of the stressor.

Burnout is characteristic of long-term exposure to stress and also results in pronounced sleep fragmentation, increased sleep latency, reduced sleep efficiency and reduced slow-wave sleep.

Having good sleep is one of the ways we maintain proper metabolic balance and a well functioning immune system. Prolonged stress can result in burnout, the symptoms of which include persistent and excessive fatigue, emotional exhaustion and cognitive dysfunction.

We all experience stress, it is just that meditators recover from Stress quicker than non-meditators and that makes the difference in how we think, speak, act, feel, which changes our patterns of behaviour and our health.

“Working with Ali helped me manage my stresses and anxiety that I was experiencing on a daily basis and encouraged me to step back and look at them in a bigger picture. I was able to understand the lessons that my experiences were teaching me, which provided me with an enriched understanding of the power of meditation. “
